LINCOLN, New Hampshire ??” Loon Mountain and Burton Snowboards unveiled the first-ever East Coast site of the Burton Progression Park on Friday, December 30. The Burton Progression Park is specially designed for the beginner to intermediate level riders with smaller terrain features and a laid-back environment.

“The Burton Progression Park is a very unique, entry-level park, suitable for those looking for the foundation for learning terrain park skills safely,” says Youth Marketing Manager Mike Bettera. “This park is the next step in the Burton ?Learn-to-Ride’ program or a place where people can learn tricks without the pressure of huge features.”

The Progression Park is designed for those who participate in the Burton Learn to Ride program or who want to learn specific elements and tricks at their own pace. The park allows instructors and coaches to incorporate park features into lessons and provide proper techniques and professional instruction to help progress beginners to the next level.

The Burton Progression Park is featured on the Little Sister trail and accessible by the Little Sister Double chair. The park consists of two jumps, one spine, two boxes and one rail – only inches from the ground. The park also features “Chill” zones, located before each feature, where instructors can explain and riders can look at specially designed signage relevant to the feature they are about to hit. The signage of each zone offers a picture of the feature and guidance to demonstrate how that specific element should be safely hit.

In further celebration of the Grand Opening of the park, orange frosted cup cakes, which symbolize the smart style logo that Burton developed, were provided to those who attended the after party. A Threedom Pass, along with a ski-and-stay package to the Mountain Club on Loon Mountain, was raffled off with all proceeds going to the Chill program offered by Burton.

Chill is a intervention program offered to disadvantaged inner-city kids, who live in 14 major cities around the country, aged 10 – 18 who want to learn to snowboard. Chill teaches kids to snowboard over 6 weeks throughout the winter and provides them with lift tickets, lessons, transportation and head-to-toe gear.
