KILLINGTON, Vermont ??\u0432\u0402\u045c National Safety Awareness Week returns to Killington Resort Jan. 14 ??\u0432\u0402\u045a 20 reminding skiers and snowboarders of the “Heads Up ??\u0432\u0402\u045a Know the Code” campaign geared towards educating skiers and riders of all ages about safety awareness on the slopes.<\/p>\n

During Safety Awareness Week anyone who purchases a ski or snowboard helmet at Killington Sports or at Killington Outfitters will receive a voucher for their choice of a free lift ticket or Perfect Turn group clinic. Guests can also have their bindings checked Jan. 14-20 at Snowshed Base Lodge or at Killington Outfitters rental\/repair facilities for half price. <\/p>\n\n\n

In addition, videos, point of purchase displays, contests, giveaways, and special events all focusing on the seven-point Heads Up system that provide the basis for safe skiing and riding will take place throughout the resort. “We are always trying to educate skiers and riders at Killington Resort about responsible behavior on the hill and National Safety Awareness Week is a great time to bring together lots of different ways to do this”, said Anne Snyder, Killington Resort risk manager. “We’ve created a variety of programs in order to reach out to everyone in ways that are informative, engaging and easy to understand. <\/p>\n

Skiers and riders should be aware of Your Responsibility Code because it identifies seven important points about safe skiing and riding and Smart Style, the terrain park safety initiative, represents freestyle terrain safety. These important messages can be found on either the National Ski Areas Association website at www.nsaa.org<\/a> and www.killington.com<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Educational pamphlets, safety awareness posters, flyers and stickers will be distributed throughout the resort. In addition, demonstrative videos playing throughout the resort featuring Olympic athletes showing “Your Responsibility Code” on special videos created by the National Ski Areas Association.
