BARTLETT, New Hampshire ??” Cindy Carrigan and her son Alec headed to Attitash in Bartlett, New Hampshire before 7:00 AM to be certain they would be one of the 400 guests to purchase a lift ticket for the resort’s original 1965 price of $7.50. Carrigan was one of many to stand outside in chilly temperatures for over an hour to get in on the Founder’s Day deal.

“This is an opportunity for great family savings, I have four children and today I will save over $200,” said Cindy Carrigan. “My son Alec volunteered to head to the mountain with me while his three sisters wait back in the warm hotel room.”

The cold didn’t seem to bother Alec as he enjoyed his complimentary hot chocolate and eagerly waited to get on the mountain. “I am going to the terrain park so I can grind some rails and hit some jumps,” said 10-year-old Alec.

“It is quite a sight seeing so many people lining up at 7:00 in the morning” said Attitash Brand Manager Jesse Mosston. “We really appreciate everyone coming out and facing this cold windy day.” Once the ticket office opened at 8:30 am, the four hundred tickets sold out in less than 30 minutes.

Attitash’s Founder’s Day kicked off Thursday evening with its annual winter concert held at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel. Assembly of Dust performed a lively show to over 300 fans. RSN, one of Attitash’s media partners, was on-site filming the show and will air footage of the event as well as other Mount Washington Valley events on RSN TV channel 16 in Conway.

On January 25, 1965 Attitash Mountain opened with 41 skiable acres accessed by one chairlift and two t-bars. Current day Attitash has expanded to 280 acres accessed by 12 lifts across two peaks. In 1966 Attitash hosted the world’s first freestyle ski competition titled Peter Pinkam’s Skimasters. In 1982 Attitash became the first mountain in the Mount Washington Valley to install snowmaking and today has the state’s most powerful snowmaking system.

Attitash is in the White Mountains of New Hampshire on Rt. 302 in Bartlett. During the winter Attitash offers 2 mountains with 70 trails and 22 miles of skiing and riding on 280 acres. In the summer guests can enjoy North America’s longest Alpine Slides, waterslides, a scenic sky ride, lift-serviced mountain biking, climbing wall, Trampoline Thing, horseback rides, driving range and skate park.
