"OkemoLUDLOW, Vt. – February marks the start of maple sugar season, when winter loosens its grip on Vermont and sugarmakers all over the State spend their days collecting the precious liquid to turn into maple syrup. Meanwhile, Okemo Mountain Resort will be tapping into the sweet sounds of notable musical artists with Sugar Daze, a free concert series featuring members of Guster, Kip Winger, Gypsy Reel, The Pete Kilpatrick Band and Matisyahu.

This three-date music series includes two performances in Okemo’s Sitting Bull on Feb. 15 and March 14, plus a huge outdoor concert extravaganza in the Jackson Gore courtyard on March 15.

On Feb. 15, from 3 to 6 p.m., Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller, from the group Guster, will play an acoustic set in the Sitting Bull with Pete Kilpatrick, from The Pete Kilpatrick Band, opening. Guster is an alternative rock band from Boston. Formed in 1991, the group is known for its live performances and humor. Founding members Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller met and started playing together with band-mate Brian Rosenworcel while attending Tufts University. The Pete Kilpatrick Band hails from Portland, Maine. They have been writing, recording, and performing regularly since 2004 and they have been named Maine’s best act four times in the Portland Best Music Awards.

On March 14, Kip Winger, from the multi-platinum rock band Winger, will play a solo acoustic set in the Sitting Bull with Pete Kilpatrick opening.

On March 15, Okemo’s Sugar Daze concert series finale will take place in the courtyard of Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn. This free outdoor performance will open with local favorite Gypsy Reel, followed by the Pete Kilpatrick Band. Matisyahu will take the stage last. Since emerging on the international stage in 2005, Matisyahu has established a reputation for high energy, live sets featuring his eclectic style of stripped down roots reggae with hints of hip hop and pop. Concert-goers will be able to enjoy a barbecue prepared by Okemo’s culinary staff and a beer garden featuring a variety of brews.
