WARREN, Vermont — Sugarbush Resort today announced that it will remodel rooms at the Sugarbush Inn in order to increase the property’s occupancy capability. Currently the inn can comfortably accommodate up to 84 people. The resort plans to increase that number to 110.

The decision to boost the historic inn’s bed base came as a result of an increase in traffic from a particular market segment. During the 2005-06 season, the resort’s sales team began a concerted effort to acquire more business from large tour operators. Those efforts began to pay off last year when Sugarbush noticed more business coming from that travel channel; specifically, operators whose clients consisted of families with up to three children looking for mid-priced lodging. Currently the majority of the inn’s rooms are configured to sleep two people. The reconfiguration will increase some room’s capacity to five. The inn will be closed from August 13th to December 19th while the remodel takes place.

“It’s great to see an increase in families coming to discover all that the Valley has to offer,” remarked Sugarbush’s Director of Sales Jim Robertson. “The next four months will be busy as we prepare for the winter crowds, but come December, the (Sugarbush) Inn will be ready to go.” The resort also plans to conduct maintenance and make repairs to the facility, which opened in 1957. Robertson said the Clay Brook Hotel and Residences, part of the resort’s Lincoln Peak Village, will be able to accommodate visitors who want lodging while work is being done to the inn.
