JAY, Vermont — Things are done a bit differently in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont but the only shift in the craziness of Jay Peak??\u0432\u201e\u045es traditional Mardi Gras celebration this season are the dates. Beads, baubles, crawfish, and Cajun cuisine highlight the festivities of Mountain Mardi Gras 2007, Feb. 25 ??\u0432\u0402\u045a March 1.<\/p>\n

???Our celebration is a combination of traditional Mardi Gras style with family-friendly events,??? said Steve Wright, vice president of sales and marketing. ???Events like mask-making, snow sculpture and snowball throwing contests, and a Louisiana family-style Cajun dinner are fun events for all ages. When the sun sets, live music from the Tammy Fletcher Band and Skinx turn Jay Peak into a winter-version of Bourbon Street. Oh yes, and there are beads??\u0412\u00a6 plenty of beads.???<\/p>\n

The sights and smells of New Orleans will abound this week as well, with lunch and dinner specials served up daily including Seafood Gumbo with Shrimp, Crawfish, Oysters and Rice; Crawfish and Tasso Pasta Monica; Chicken Creole with Rice, Smoked Turkey, Andouille and File Gumbo, Roast Pork Loin with Sugar Cane, Pineapple & Peppers with Corn Macque Choux, and Pecan Encrusted Talapia Meuniere, just to name a few.<\/p>\n
