WARREN, Vermont — The mountains will soon be filled with music when the Vermont Symphony Orchestra comes to Sugarbush. On Saturday, June 28th, the VSO will perform “From Vermont with Love” at the base of the resort’s Lincoln Peak. The evening performance, devoted to affairs of the heart, will feature scores from Oklahoma, Carmen and a Midsummer Night’s Dream. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. for pre-concert picnicking. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and concludes with a magnificent fireworks display accompanying Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

“Summer isn’t only about adventure,” said resort president Win Smith discussing Sugarbush’s focus on bringing such cultural events to the mountain. “This place used to be a hub for music back in the 80s and 90s and that excitement and energy were allowed to fade away. Now that we’ve brought back adventure programs to Lincoln Peak, we’d like to increase the amount of cultural events on the mountain and around the (Mad River) Valley.”

To that goal, Sugarbush also partnered with the Bundy Center for the Arts. Beginning in May, the resort, along with the BCFA, began offering Latin Dance classes in Timbers Restaurant. The Wednesday-night sessions have covered such dances as the Cha Cha and Salsa and the series will conclude with a party on June 21st. On July 19th, Sugarbush and the BCFA will present “Vegas in Vermont,” a concert featuring vocalist and Bundy Executive Director Piero Bonamico and New York jazz pianist Gregory Toroian.
