Groups host progressive picnic on skis\/snowshoes for a good cause<\/p>\n
Newry, Maine (February 13, 2012)-Sunday River Ski Resort and the American Lung Association of Maine will team up on February 25, 2012, to host a progressive picnic on skis and snowshoes, also known as the 25th annual Joy of Skiing at the Sunday River Outdoor Center.<\/p>\n
Home to 30 kilometers of Nordic and snowshoe trails, the Sunday River Outdoor Center provides a perfect location for a day of outdoor recreation and sampling homemade fare.<\/p>\n
From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., outdoor enthusiasts are invited to work up an appetite and explore the Outdoor Center’s many trails. Along the way, guests will be treated to a number of on-trail food stations.<\/p>\n
Culinary stops rotate on an hourly basis and will include such past favorites as homemade donuts, hot soup, and a s’mores sweet ending.<\/p>\n
Cost to participate in the Joy of Skiing is $6 in advance or a $7 on the day of the event, in addition to a trail pass. Kids ages 6 through 12 and seniors 65 and older cost $4, and kids 5 and under and adults 80 years and older are free. Cross country ski and snowshoe rentals are also available.<\/p>\n
Proceeds benefit the American Lung Association of Maine, a nonprofit organization.<\/p>\n
