Lincoln, NH, February 27: Thanks to New Hampshire’s most powerful snowmaking and a little late-February help from Mother Nature, Loon Mountain is heading into March with 100% of total trail acreage open, plus 5 terrain parks, minipipe, New Hampshire’s only superpipe and a calendar packed full of entertainment and events for everyone.<\/p>\n
Everyone is invited to come out on March 3 and help support the Faulkner Breast Centre and raise funds for the fight against breast cancer by skiing or snowboarding in the 20th Annual Briefcase Race with WCVB’s Mike Lynch. The race is an easy dual NASTAR course and costumes are enthusiastically encouraged. Teams can sign up to support this worthy cause by visiting www.briefcaserace.org<\/a> . Boston’s WXRV The River radio hosts the race apres party in Babe’s Lounge from 3 to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n Following on the heels of the successful Bud Light Saturday Nights featuring bands such as The Alchemystics and Bad Rabbits, the Paul Bunyan Room Saturday Night Entertainment Series continues with The Conniption Fits appearing in the Bunyan Room on the evening of March 3. The show begins at 8:30 p.m. and is open to anyone 21 and over. Teams of two riders from snowboard shops around New England compete in three events and a costume contest. Team entries are $60 which includes tickets, BBQ and the entry fee. <\/p>\n On March 10, the Kostik Kup, a fundraiser race for New England Disabled Sports, starts off the day. Boston’s Kiss 108 radio hosts apres in the Bunyan Room from 3-5 p.m., when participants could win a chance to take home $1,000 in a snowball toss. Continuing the Bunyan Room Saturday Night Entertainment, a dance party with DJ Scrumptious begins at 8:30 p.m. <\/p>\n The popular Women’s Performance Camps (WPC), which debuted last winter, return this season. WPC, which are designed by women to cater to women who are comfortable on terrain ranging from blue square to double black diamond, will be offered again March 10-11. The two-day session costs $200 and includes a two-day lift ticket, and rates are available for New England Pass holders, too. Reservations are highly recommended, as these camps tend to sell out. Reservations are available by calling 1-800-229-LOON.<\/p>\n On March 12, Last Call with Eastern Boarder will take over the lower part of Loon Mountain Park. Entry fee is $50 which includes a lift ticket, contest entry, lunch and a chance to win cash prizes. Registration will be from 8:30-10 a.m. in Wanigans Slopeside Deli and awards will follow at the Shaping Shack at 3:30 p.m., with an after party in the Bunyan Room. <\/p>\n Benefiting the Eileen Keegan Rice Community Fund, Eileen’s “Luck of the Irish” Ski Race takes place on March 16. On Saturday night March 17, the Bud Light Entertainment Series continues at 8:30 p.m. in the Bunyan Room with live music by The Running Gags. <\/p>\n On March 17, Loon Mountain hosts the final stop of Snowboarder Magazine’s Superpass Series. The event is open to 50 riders at a first-come, first-served basis. Contestants have three runs on a three jump course to throw down the best tricks, to be judged by Snowboarder Magazine staff. Top finishers will receive prizes from series sponsors Spy, High Cascade Snowboard Camp, CAPITA, and Union. Plus, any first place winners over the age of 18 will receive an invite to Snowboarder Magazine’s Superpark 16 this spring.
