Temperatures are predicted to drop into the teens tonight and are forecast to stay good and cold through Friday before moderating a little next week. The Ski Butternut snowmaking team is prepared to take full advantage of these good snowmaking conditions and plans to make snow on 13 of their 22 trails in hopes of opening with more than 50% of their terrain for the first weekend in December.<\/p>\n<p>Snowmaking will take place on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Beginner slopes: SKIwee, Paddy\u2019s, Scooter, Cross Town, Nut Hatch and Pied Piper.<\/li>\n<li>Intermediate runs: Upper Applejack, Lower Applejack, Main Street, Hob Knob and Twist<\/li>\n<li>Advanced trails: Chute and the Race Course<\/li>\n<li>Snowmaking will also be taking place on the 8-lane Tubing Center slope.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ski Butternut is targeting Friday December 5th or Saturday December 6th as the opening day for the 2014-15 winter season but there is the possibility that the mountain could open sooner. \u201cUnderstandably the opening is all based upon the weather but the forecast looks promising.\u201d stated Matt Sawyer &#8211; Director of Marketing. The mountain plans to open with three chairlifts and will be open from the summit using the ski areas signature lift the Top Flight Quad. In addition we plan to open the Highline Quad chairlift and Paddy\u2019s beginner chairlift a double. We have four beginner carpet lifts and will operate a few of those as needed to meet demand. The Tubing Center is scheduled to open a week or two after the main mountain is underway.
