KILLINGTON, VT ??\u0432\u0402\u045c Skiers and riders have reason to celebrate as the eastern skiing and riding season officially got underway Tuesday, November 9 at 9 a.m. The result of intensive snowmaking operations, Killington Resort opened today with top to bottom terrain serviced by the K-1 Express Gondola and North Ridge Triple Chair.<\/p>\n
Eight trails covering three miles of terrain were offered on opening day. The season’s first terrain park, located on the Reason trail, will be unveiled on opening day with features including rails, boxes and a hip jump.<\/p>\n
“We started making snow last week at every opportunity,” said Rich McGarry, Killington’s general manager. “Not only will guests find a deep base of snow beneath their feet, but I think they’ll really take to the upgrades around the resort. We’ll keep on making snow in true Killington fashion to expand terrain heading towards Thanksgiving.”<\/p>\n Opening day terrain is for intermediate and advanced level skiers and riders only. Killington typically offers nearly 80 trails for all ability levels during the Thanksgiving holiday. Special Gobbler Packages available for the holiday, which include lift tickets and lodging start at $77 per person per night and may be reserved at www.killington.com<\/a> or by calling (800) 621-MTNS.<\/p>\n Lift tickets on opening day will be $39 for adults, $35 for young adults and $29 for juniors and seniors. Early season conditions are subject to change and guests should visit www.killington.com<\/a> or call the Killington Snow Phone at (802) 422-3261 for the latest updates.<\/p>\n Opening weekend festivities will be underway on Saturday, November 13 with an outdoor barbecue and bar (weather permitting) and a free performance by the band Deep Banana Blackout as part of the Budweiser Concert Series.
