WAITSFIELD, VT ??” When Mad River Glen cranked up its Practice Slope Chair this morning it became Vermont’s first ski area to open 100% of its terrain. Despite multi-million dollar investments in snowmaking technology by the other areas, they have all been beaten to the punch by an ski area with a grand total of two snow guns and a snowmaking water storage “pond” referred to by its operators as the “snowmaking puddle”.

“It’s a testament to the staff’s meticulous care of the trail system and a little luck from Mother Nature,” said Mad River Glen’s President, Jamey Wimble. “Most skiers don’t even think Mad River Glen makes snow, or even grooms the trails. In fact, snowmaking is very important to us and we groom more than half our terrain almost every night.”

Mad River Glen’s two snow guns cover approximately 15% of the mountains terrain. They provide consistent snow top to bottom on trails serviced by the Practice Slope lift along with high traffic, low elevation areas of the main mountain accessed by the historic single chair.

The mountain has been blessed with more than 5 feet of snow far this year and is set up perfectly for a successful holiday week. For more information about the latest conditions and weather visit madriverglen.com.
