HIGHMOUNT, New York ??” The giving didn’t end with the holidays at Belleayre Mountain. Last weekend the riders and skiers at Belleayre really stepped up and gave to two very good causes.

On Saturday January 8th Belleayre Mountain hosted the 2nd annual Alzheimer’s Association “Race to Remember.” Over 160 pre-registered participants helped to raise more than $5,000. The entire cost of the $20 lift ticket/entry fee was donated to the association. Proceeds from the sale of “Forget me nots” and sponsorship money from the Belleayre Mountain team that participated in the Memory Walk in October are all part of an ambitious goal to raise $20,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. For more information on how you can contribute contact Lori Knapp at 845-254-5600, x 444.

On Sunday January 9th, Belleayre held its 2nd annual Winter coat drive. Again the riders and skiers came through with over 250 winter coats to be donated to The Family of Woodstock organization. Family of Woodstock has been serving the community as the only 24 hour, 7 day a week crisis hotline in Ulster County since 1971.

Both events certainly gave everyone a sense of community spirit, and the great feeling of knowing that their donation will go to help someone in need. The community is thankful to all the folks who donated so generously.
