Bretton Woods, NH – As part of a multi-phased $70 million transformation, the acclaimed Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH, will welcome additional terrain for backcountry adventures at the Bretton Woods ski area. The long awaited Mount Stickney expansion will emphasize a classic New England backcountry adventure for skiers and riders of all abilities.

The much-anticipated addition of lift service to Mount Stickney, whose last addition included 30 acres of gladed tree skiing, is being completed with the addition of a T-Bar surface lift and warming cabin. The new 2,000-foot Doppelmayr T-Bar will serve the Mount Stickney Glades. The gladed terrain is being expanded and enhanced to open up the steep drop offs and cliff area for those thrill-seeking skiers at Bretton Woods. For the less adventurous, many of the glades are being manicured in the Bretton Woods fashion so they will be skiable even in lean snow years and cater to all abilities and age groups. With the addition of the surface lift, skiers and riders can now spend hours doing laps in the trees without having to return to the main base area. At the top of the new T-Bar near the summit of Mount Stickney, a new 600-square-foot log cabin is being constructed. The cabin will feature an exterior stone fireplace as well as a porch for catching rays on warmer days. Inside, a wood stove will warm skiers in between runs.

In addition, Bretton Woods is increasing its snowmaking abilities with the installation of 50 new snowguns on the popular Rangeview trail. The SV10 Impulse snowmaking technology will provide for a better and longer skiing experience for guests. For stylish winter travelers, the resort will also offer the opportunity for skiers to suit up in the latest fashions from Bogner. The Munich-based company, known for its high-end sports fashions, will partner with the resort to establish a virtual Bogner clothing store at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel. At the store, guests will be able to select custom clothing, gear and accessories electronically, which will be mailed to their direct address.

The next phase of the Mount Stickney expansion will be aimed at the Nordic skier and will take place for the 2013-2014 season. Additional Nordic terrain will be added to the already vast network of 100km. The new high altitude trails will provide Nordic skiers with early and late season terrain. The new trails will start at the Mount Stickney Cabin and connect into the existing Stickney trail system.
