Fireworks display on Saturday and Polka Mass on Sunday with Father Anthony Motta<\/p>\n
HUNTER, NY \u2013 The annual German Alps Festival is set to kick off on August 11 & 12 at Hunter Mountain, featuring traditional German-American food, Schuhplatter dancers, fireworks, polka mass as well as tons of live entertainment. The 18-time Grammy Award winner Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra will be headlining the festival with other acts including the Maestro\u2019s Men, Alex Meixner Band, Dsb Die Schlauberger and more. The festival grounds open at 11am on Saturday, with a fireworks display at 9:30pm. New to the festival this year is the Polka Mass, at 11am on Sunday, with Father Anthony Motta of the Immaculate Conception Church in Haines Falls, NY. Also added to the entertainment schedule are various games including Keg Rolling, Wife Carrying, and Masskrugstemmen, a beer stein holding competition. There will be numerous art, craft and food vendors located throughout the festival grounds spanning the indoor and outdoor areas of Hunter Mountain. The festival will take place rain or shine with plenty of room for dancing and fun, including a designated children\u2019s entertainment area.<\/p>\n
Hunter Mountain\u2019s Skyride will be operating over the weekend, allowing festival-goers to take the chairlift to the summit of the resort\u2014hours of operation and pricing can be found at HunterMtn.com. New York Zipline Adventure Tours will also be operating; reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling 800-486-8376.<\/p>\n
