BARTLETT, New Hampshire ??” Attitash Resort has announced its involvement in the National Ski Areas Association’s (NSAA) Sustainable Slopes Campaign. On Feb. 26, Sustainable Slopes Outreach Day, Attitash will be highlighting alternative modes of transportation including mass transit, rail and pedal power to inform guests about ways to minimize environmental effects caused by automobiles.

“Your car might be full when headed to the slopes but what about when you’re headed to work,” said Alex Kaufman, Communications Manager for Attitash. “The first step is helping people get the information they need to take advantage of the programs that are out there. From car-pooling, to taking the bus or riding a bike, there’s a lot of ways to help out while saving some cash.”

The state of New Hampshire offers numerous ways for its citizens to travel aside from personal automobiles. There are car pool services that can link up people that are headed the same way, there are also busses that serve highly trafficked routes to and from the larger cities, and of course bicycle routes that also offer the added benefit of exercise.

“We are taking this collective step of adopting our Environmental Charter to demonstrate our commitment to good environmental stewardship. We do so for a number of reasons. We respect the natural settings that we call home and want the same experience to be available for future generations,” said Michael Berry, President of the NSAA.

On display will be information from the N.H. Department of Transportation (mass transit and bicycle/pedestrian division), N.H. Ride Share, carpoolworld.com, and erideshare.com. Information from the Natural Resources Defense Council will also be on display in conjunction with the NSAA.

Outreach Day is happening within both Winterfest 2005 and the 40 Days and 40 Nights of Attitash celebrating the resort’s 40th anniversary. A complete listing of events is available at www.attitash.com.
