I'm hoping Belleayre opens on November 10th..if they do, that's where my first day of the season will be. Otherwise I'll have to wait until the next weekend or go somewhere in VT if somewhere opens up there. I really hope we get off to a good start here in the east. If not, I'm flying somewhere out west last minute. Last season my first day of the season was November 24th at Belleayre so anything before that would be bonus for me. Anybody else thinking about skiing November 10th? I've got the jimmy legs and can't wait.

If it opens, I'll be there, I'm dying to try out my new Endeavor. But.... it's been really warm and I only live 20 minutes from Belleayre. Last year they pushed back the date a few times, but gotta stay positive. Frost next week... but that's just the word on the street 8).

If they open on the 10th then i'll definitely be there on Friday the 16th, that's my first weekday off after the 10th. Who knows though, I might not be able to deny the jones on opening weekend and drag my wife and son up there on the 10th or 11th.:daffy:

Nothing like high speed human slalom among a couple hundred people on lower Onienta...I'm actually hoping for spring snow for opening day like last season at Belleayre..actually groomed hardpack turning into spring snow..but I'll take death cookies..lol

Opening day last season at Belleayre was a blast and then I drove to Killington that afternoon..

I have to get up there sometime soon to check on the damage the damn mice are doing to our place. I heard they are chewing on my water pipe heat trace insulation. Damn mice.

Is it normal for Belleayre to open that early? I know they're not run by ORDA, but still, being a state run area, I'm surprised to hear that they'd be opening that much earlier than Whiteface, or Gore.

Belleayre is a strong early season player. They were first to open (along with Woodbury) in 2003 on November 9.

I was at belleayre opening day in 2005 and while it was nice to be out there and skiing, I walked away thinking that I should have waited one more week before heading out there. They open that blue trail first and its just packed with people and isn't steep enough for any serious skiing. But within a week the headwall trails start to get opened up and the skiing becomes respectable.

So this year, if I do head to Belleayre, I will wait till they have had a chance to open up more than just one blue.

Yes they open as early as possible..they almost opened last year on the 11th until rain and warmth wiped out their chances. The elevation of the overlook lodge is 2500 or so..and thats the lowest the skiing takes place at opening day..and they got solid crowds last year opening day including a bunch of people from PA, NJ, and Deleware...Belleayre was open last season until April 22nd..they don't mess around..

I'm too into skiing to think that way...I need to ski opening way...regardless of crowds or conditions...I'm hoping for at least 3 opening days this season...maybe 4..

So following your logic, a person that decides to wait an extra week to kick their ski season off is not as into skiing as one that skis opening day. That is dumb.

Yeah because if there's skiing to be had..within a few hours..you would want to ski.....that day..right??

Yes, I would. I am not saying that I care about skiing more than you - I am pretty sure I don't. I am also 100% sure I care about counting and mathematically quantifying my care for skiing less than you do too.

What does not make logical sense is implying that going to 3 resorts on opening day instead of waiting another couple of days means you care about skiing more.

But hey, if you have the time, the money and the motivation to ski on opening day at 3 resorts, by all means go for it. Just make sure you include it in your "Skiing Achievements Bullet List". :)

So, what do they normally charge, roughly, for early season turns at Belleayre?
