2010-2011 NASTAR season

I have a NASTAR pass at Sugarbush and run the course for fun rather than competitive racing. It's another good way to practice skiing technique in an all around the mountain ski day.

I'll be at Pats Monday nights. I really wouldn't call what I do racing. More like taking two runs slowly turning around some gates. I have fun in the bar after talking about how much I hate racing. :)

i'll be hitting the blue, bear creek and greek peak gates at some point this winter

kinda bummed about blue this year - previously it had been on raceway wich was a little atypical for a nastar course, steeper and faster than most with a headwall to flats to headwall. a little wacky and pretty dangerous with a trail crossing the flats and a really short landing area - but a ton of fun. its being relocated to another trail with very little pitch :( i totally suck in the flats so i will be struggling this year...

oh and was planning on hitting the east regionals and clinics at greek peak 1/8 and 1/9 but jr thas a hockey game that sunday...

Okemo NASTAR

Come join us at Okemo this year. As far as I know, we're the only NASTAR venue in the country to set both ski and snowboard courses on weekends.

Not sure of the date we'll kick things off for the season but likely between Christmas and New Years.

Consider attending the NASTAR Open at Greek Peak in New York on January 8-9 and the Nationals at Winter Park March 24-27.

I am raceing Tues. nights at Bosquet, and Thurs. nights at Jiminy Peak. Neither location is NASTAR sanctioned but run the same way. They seem much more challenging than any NASTAR course I have run. Varying pitch, trails turning, and much higher speeds.
This will be my third year, and I am addicted.

That sounds pretty cool. WA has a decent pitch with a flat in the middle. Twisting trail would be fun.

At Bosquet the trail has about a 120 degree turn as the course goes from "Easy Rider" to "Iceicles". There is a long sweeper to the right out of the start house followed by the hard left changing trails. Depending on the night there is also a chance of air for the top racers as more speed is carried over certain parts of the course.
Bosquet
Jiminy runs the race from the top to bottom on "Ace of Spades". The trail is mostly straight, but is setup to have lots of turns going down the course and constantly changing pitch. The head of the race program sets the gates and makes it a very fun course.
Jiminy Peak

Finally got off my butt to send out an invite to past team members for Pats (or Crotched?)... the former 'AZ' team... skibum9995 and ga2ski in particular rrrrriiippp as does BobR! I wonder if tree_skier qualifies for the senior division yet? :P

Anyone interested feel free to contact me.

This sounds pretty cool - my only experience is Nastar @ Pats and Crotched... always wished Pat's ran more courses like King of the Hill (top to bottom) and the finals (with boardercross-esque kickers!).

I entered a skier-cross once. Only time I have ever really hurt myself skiing. Completely tore apart my ACL. It wasnt the jumps that took me out, it was the horrible lighting in the straights.

I sent Charlie S a pm. He took some time off due to an injury. He is always into having fun. Its early but I was able to clear 1/2 of my Monday's to leave early. Best I can do. Pats would have to be the local for me if it comes together. Crochet would take me to long to get to. I got the Pats e-mail yesterday. I was thinking it would be fun again. Cleared it with the war deparment. Nice job Roark.

If you ever get a chance to go to Nationals, by all means do it. It's as much fun off-course as on it. They really put together a great event.

It that is Pat he goes every year in both snowboarding and board groups. Two years ago it was not quite the same amount of fun for him as usual.

Ben Jarvin Green Davis.;-) myself and thaller 1 met him a couple of years ago. I did not know people from Ct skied.:spin:

I did a tele race last year at Gunstock where half way down you had to actually do a 360 running back up hill and then continue with the gates down to the finish. I finished last! I was fast on the 360 but I suck at gates.
