Biggest Drop

From readin about J. H. i start thining to myself what the people in here have really dropped. There in lies the question.

My biggest drop in between 25 and 30 feet. It was last winter out in BC. It was a high speeder and I was trying to land it and ski away. The few guys who went in front of me were in the back seat and landed more on there butts than skiis. I got to far foward and the compression banged my knee into my head. The only hard thing in sight that day and I hit it. Had a shiner after that.

Lots a 10 to 15 footers.

I'd say my biggest would be between 10 and 15 feet.

Probably about 35 feet at Whistler when I was 19..Now I'm too concerned about injury so I don't drop things larger than 10-15 feet and only if I scope the landings..I love straight airing the big booters in the terrain park but that's different than hucking a cliff because there's a smooth landing..or sometimes a hard icy landing..

Probably about 15-20 feet..Jersey Cream Bowl at Blackcomb.....also a similar sized (although slightly less) drop in Mineral Basin....both were in pow/chopped up pow....Blackcomb was during a dump....Mineral Basin was Bluebird the day after a dump.....ahhhh...good stuff....

Can't remember the name, but there is a 15-20 foot cliff about half way up and to the left of chair nine at mammoth. And I only hit it after a storm so there was powder to cushin me if I hadn't successfully landed it.

As far as east coast goes though? Well i know you're not supposed to, but the "cliff" on devils fiddle, whats that? 6-10 feet?

Like alot of old farts like me, how I ski now vs how I skied 40 years ago when I was in HS/college are completely diferent. For alot of understandeble reasons.

When I first moved to JH I was in my mid 20's so when we had big snow I jumped off cliffs all over the mountain. As I have mentioned before I never did Corbet's, not because I couldn't it just never twisted my twang. Me and my ski buddies much prefered places away from the crowds. I would say the cliffs off Mushroom Chutes were our favorites.

BTW, I don't consider what's his name's giant huck off the backside of Grand Targhee anything noteworthy. Anyone could have done what he did, granted, it did take alot of nuts but unless you land and ski away it's not a righteous accomplishment. Just my .02, I know alot of folks think the opposite.

I was at Grand Targhee the day Jaime Pierce dropped the 260 footer..there was an incredible amount of snow on the ground..he landed head first though..

I think most are aware of that. One of the several reasons I don't have alot of respect for the act. My old friend Wade McCoy photographed the event. To be fair he has done some incredible righteous hucks since then.

Somewhere between 12 and 15 feet. I am working on setting up a 25 footer for this winter. The landing area needs some maintenance.

30...but spent too much time jumping off 10-12' with flat landings before I smartened up and started looking for steep landings...whaddya expect when you're 18 and just moved to Squaw Valley trying to emulate Scot Schmidt! Yellow TNF powder suit and all...hey, it was the early 90s...at least it was better than the neon!

20, maybe 25 feet max. These days I stick to pretty much 10 or less, probably for the same reason as most who used to huck bigger, can't afford to miss work. I've never been much of a park hucker though. I've always felt more comfortable drop a cliff, than hurling myself off a ramp. Air's in bump competitions were no problem back in the day, but the things people throw themselves off now are crazy.
