Man from Connecticut dies after apparent skiing accident at Solitude

A man died Saturday after he appeared to have crashed into a tree while skiing at Solitude Mountain Resort.

My son’s roommate was one of the patrollers attempting to keep him alive. He performed CPR on him.

That's a shame. Middle Slope is off to the lookers right about half way up the summit chair at Solitude. Pretty area and fairly challenging.

The lift line on the snowy hump in the right background of photo above is the Great Western chair at Brighton.

Those pics look absolutely gorgeous. Reminds me of how far (in a bad way) things have come. The first time I skied in Utah I skied Solitude with a BOGO for $40, and this was less than 10 years ago. Now in the IKON-era with the artificial single day pricing it's $160 or more, and BOGOs are a relic of a bygone era.

I found the place to be very steep..even the blue groomers would be a solid black at some places.

I prefer the terrain at Solitude over Brighton but the lift layout is horrible and makes it a major PITA to lap the good stuff.

Read that he was both a Ski Instructor at Killington and a Ski Patroller at Sundown.
