Slopefillers.com had a good analysis the other day on the value of four packs of lift tickets. We all know they are a good deal, but it's interesting to see it in the statistics.

Basically, on average you have to ski about 16 days for a season pass to be a better deal. On average, four packs run about $49 per ski day across the country. Those who work the ski on the cheap thread real hard can often beat that, but you have to admit four packs are simple and reduce the effort necessary to find a decent deal. You just need the foresight to buy early because they're usually only offered in the Fall/preseason.

Getting a couple sugarbush quad packs as gifts for Christmas I believe. They're definitely a great deal there

I never felt the need to buy Quad packs. I get to Sugarbush 2-3 times (1 time with Vermont ski 3 pass, and once or twice w/ Ride and Ski Card especially on the tour date) and pay less than the quad pack average. I would rather ski as many 2 for 1 deals as I can find then getting quad packs.. However Bolton Valley had 4 tickets for $100 which was pretty good - that one is tough to beat!

You pay less than 50?

Vt. pass comes out to $43 & change. I'll probably ski Sugarbush on one of their ski club days for $50. Maybe a couple of days with an employee discount ticket for $30 if/when my friend who works there is available. I thought about buying the quad pack but decided not to. Not sure if they added tax this year (they didn't the one time I bought a quad pack) but even without tax the quad pack is $57.25 a day. Still a decent deal though.

Many four pack deals are good on holidays, which are less likely to be discounted by other means.

I buy 4 packs when I can use them for multiple people on the same day. I would not buy them if I had to use them all myself on 4 different days. I have bought them for a-basin twice. 4 tickets for 139 no restrictions and transferable. I just don't end up going to the same place 4 times.

I go up to sugarbush for a week every year so the 4 pack makes perfect sense. I can use them whichever days I want

One of the better 4 pack offerings I have seen is Bromleys Spring Fling pack. It is $99 for 4 days that can be used from early March thru season end as well as early the following yr thru Mid Dec.

It is non transferable and can only be used by the owner of 1 per day but its a nice idea.
Wish more mtns would do this in the spring to drive sales.

What happens when they aren't open in Mid Dec?

Ride and Ski Card tour stop at Sugarbush on a Saturday 2 for 1 - $46.5
Ride and Ski Card M-F 2 for 1 - $46.5
Vt. pass comes out to $43 & change.

I also have a friend there that scores us some comps from time to time.

I find the Sugarbush quad pack to be a good deal and I buy a 2-3 packs every year for my family of four. Since we are usually skiing on holidays it works out pretty well. I don't find the Okemo 3 pack as enticing, but every dollar counts.

I believe the article quoted made it very clear the comparison is for HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS.

No hunting and watching SOTC thread. It's a no brainer for people who don't ski in the SAME mountain for more than 2 weeks (16 days).

Quad packs have their place in a SOTC strategy. Prior to getting a seasons pass, I rarely skied a single resort 4 times with the exception of Killington (mostly early and late season) and Jay Peak where I used Ride and Ski 2 for 1. So in my case, quad packs often drove up my dollar cost average, in the same respect so does the Ski Vt Pass but I did not want both.
