,
Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating and snow making plans are being put on hold possibly until after T'giving. Opening day may not occur until about Thurs -Friday Dec 2nd - 3rd. This is not official as no official opening day has been set yet but that is what is being discussed. Even tho some cold nights are forecast for next week the days will be warm (40's - low 50's) and more rain is likely. It is 50 here now and raining steady (about 2") with high winds.

That would be unfortunate, but I'll trust their judgement on when they have the ability to open, plus I hate seeing meltdowns at Hunter, because the more of them we have, the less we tend to get the Highlands/West Side open.

I just cut & pasted from the blogspot -

I'll be there opening day, whenever it may be. The sooner the better.

Here's the report that just came in. Tonight's summit forecast is 24-27 with 84% humidity...Thursday night is 32-27 with 100% humidity w/ some rain and ice. Friday and Saturday nights look better, but there is significant rain forecasted for next Tuesday and Wednesday. We're as ready as you are to see the guns blowing. If Mother Nature cooperates and the guns go on this weekend....we'd all be happy! Stay tuned...

Can't say I blame them for holding off. I hope this weather changes soon!

If I remember, last year had the best...but not earliest opening in years with most of the frontside open in a few days..so I'll take the wait.

You have to remember that Hunter does not get good weather/snow most of the time..when others are getting bombed thay get an inch..except for last year when they got 7 feet and vermont got a few inches.

They are in the same Latitude as Jiminy and have greater elevation. In years past, they would have been open, but I guess they spent all of their excess cash on the flyer. (Dont get me wrong, we needed it!)

I was in the baselodge today. They will start snowmaking Wednesday and open soon after. 2" of rain coming Tuesday according the lift ops. I guess we head to Belleayre tomorrow.
