anybody go to both this weekend? I'm a little worried about Snows' snow holding up for tuesday. Opinions?

Killington was good yesterday. Read my report for more. But their base was deep and the terrain variety was excellent, considering the poor weather.

I was at both and had a good time at both, but if the last three days was any indication, I'd go with Killington.

Killington - Shorter trails but 16 of them and skiing top to bottom.
Snow - 2 trails with nice sustained vertical top to bottom, but downloading to base lodge.
Killington - For the most part, nice soft snow.
Snow - Firm skied off early

Yeah I might be looking to head to either of the two Monday..... hmmmm. Mt. Snow is much closer and my home mountain, we will see. While you do have to download there, the two runs they have open are really good.

Same for me, well the closer part. Its less then 2 hours for me and while i'd rather ski chute over anything killington is offering, it seemed from the pics to be rather firm and i was hoping for something in the way of a little bump skiing.

I was at Snow on Friday and the snow was indeed quite firm. Didnt mogul up much at all by the time I left at 3, and was pretty hard packed but you could hold an edge. Based on the reports it sounds like Killington would be a better bet.

If you're worried about the snow holding up at Snow, don't. Theres some decent cover there although a bit thin in spots (mostly choke points). Conditions were variable and the bumps that did form were more of the erratic variety. Not much in terms of bump lines, but the stuff on skier's left of Chute was fun to pop around.

The forecast is for higher temps this week. Unless you have a season ticket, I wouldn't say that you get the most bang for your buck by skiing a lot at this time of the year. Personally, I just go out enough to get the legs in shape for the big snows.

Good point, this weekend:

Killington - $51
Snow - $39

51 seems a little steep considering there are only a few ways down the mountain. Then a again they have the most open terrain in the east.

I'd recommend Mt. Snow. We don't want Killington to get too crowded. ;-)

well you've got no one to blame but yourself. Your pic of mousetrap did it for me. Killington it is.

dont worry, i'll stay out of zee middle.

I skied killington today and the cover is still excellent, considering the recent weather. The only spot getting boney was mouse trap. A decent bump line formed on east glade for early season but I imagine they will mow it down tonight.

I thought the name of that trail was East Fall?

At any rate, that was a good bump line this weekend, but one line from skiers right was grassy too. Some of the bumps towards the bottom of that trail were really deep.

Upper East Fall which is the bottom half of Reason which used to be called Lower East Glade which has been eliminated in favor of Reason and Upper East Fall although in reality there is no Upper East Fall as its just East Fall and there is no rime or reason for changing the names other than the glades havent been glades since god knows when.
