Thursday night is the night....there will be a strip of white on Upper Cascade with temps falling into the uppper 20's....Killington is all ready and set up to do it

low of 28 forecasted for the valleys of northern VT on thursday night. if they are going to 'blow the mice' (*cough* publicity stunt *cough* ) before the innitial assault, this thursday night is definitely the night to do it.

Hate to be pessimistic as well...but I doubt it. Some snow has fallen on higher elevations and dewpoints are still running very high.

.....As we sit with our fingers crossed Thursday night like a bunch of pathetic loosers.....

What a sight to see! I can't wait! Anyone start messing around with their gear yet? I put my boots on the other day.

you better believe it! i cooked my new liners last week, had an AMAZING PTEX and base repair job done by sport thoma and lincoln (props! the bases haven't looked this good since i bought them! ) and had a binding installation done sunday. all and all, i'm ready. still gotta adjust my touring bindings to the new boots. gimme some snow! you are right, pathetic indeed :D

To bad we are all so hyped up about them "blowing out the mice"... in the old days they would have sent a pickup up to "the glades triple" where the lift would be running and people would be skiing... to bad indeed

salida, i gotta disagree on this one. i don't think the cold will be prolonged enough to cover the entire glades area with an ample base for sliding. also, while i would love the idea of uploading, i think critism of K is better directed at K opening top to bottom latter than they could and closing earlier than they could. the current non-aggressive opening and closing dates are the really sad sign. though they currently just don't have enough cold weather forecasted to even attempt the feat.

I think no. I think Killington will wait until the next storm passes Sunday, Monday or Tues and then fire up the guns for real. I think the blowing out of the mice might just be passed bythis year with the focus on opening. time will tell. I don't care about marketing snow. I'm going anyway I don't need to be convinced.
I agree. In fact, I've got it on good authority that the mice have already been blown out, just not as snow. The snowmaking system which includes 279 Low E guns in position near the top areas of Killington Peak is primed and ready to fire. They are looking for a window of sustained cold for actual base-building which may begin over the weekend or early next week. I don't expect we'll see the photo-op type patch this year.

This is my POV as well considering their precarious financial situation. This marketing stunt probably has been axed.

my sources say differently....and i think the temps may stay cold enough at the top to start laying a base
