I'm looking to take a few day trip in mid december with a few buddies after finals are over. could someone tell me what mountain would offer the most terrain this early in the season. my friends are partial to tremblant, i have had some decent early season conditions there but that mountain can get pretty boring pretty fast especially when all you have to ski are groomers.

Depending on the year, mid-December can be a bunch of groomers everywhere. If we don't get a big storm to open a bunch of natural trails, most mountains will have mostly groomers open. That being said, K-Mart will probably have the most open terrain and we all know how much I love that mountain .

Hate to break it to ya...but most places will only have groomers open unless we get a lot of snow here soon...

That said...watch MRG and Sugarbush for skiing. That would offer a lot of variety in a nice setting. Ellen has a good mix in pre-season once there is snow and MRG is a legend when bases are great.

You should not have trouble booking lodging close to the day(s) of your trip in mid December. Keep an eye on the weather and mountain conditions and decide where to go based upon what looks best at that time

that early in the season, more often than not, every mountain in the north east will only have groomers. a special december it is indeed to have a much for natural snow trails by mid-december. not that it can't happen but it doesn't happen too often.
