Just got Jiminy's Weekend Outlook and noticed this:

...Mogul Thing, our bump chute, between Grand Slam and Lower Slingshot...

Anybody ski this lately? Is it just a seeded bump run? It's not very steep over there. Is it any good?

I skied that twice last weekend with ALLSKING and BeanoNYC, it's a really short connector trail, about 300-400' long with some nicely spaced practice moguls.

Compared to the bumps that I am used to skiing their on Jericho, its fairly tame, and not steep at all, but fun.

It's a good learner run. Of course I wimped out on it and fell as a result. I should have cowboy'd up and taken advantage of the run. I need some mogul lessons .... bad. Anyhoo you would like it. The bumps should be nice and soft for you.

Its fun but the bumps at Sundown are more of a challenge.

lol. you gotta admit, it's not every day you could make a comment like that about sundown, but i certainly would agree given the description of jiminys run.

Wow. Props to Sundown.

seriously though, think about it. They have had that thing going for well over a month now. The last time we were there, it really was sweet. The place has more base then areas well to the north and if we get a little warm weather, heck, spring bumps in our own state. I never thought i'd see the day again.

Agreed! Hope to re-sample them tomorrow night... Picked up some cheap ass goggles with clear lenses too! 8)

I am getting away early enough tomorrow that I hope to get in some night skiing with my son at Bolton. I have never been there, but the new quad sounds nice. I wonder if they have any mogul trails open ?

How true is that. The funny thing is its really not even close. The bumps at Sundown are MUCH bigger and the run is longer with a steeper pitch.

hmmm... i have a brace hanging around somewhere............
Take it easy on that knee, but if you do decide to go, PM me...

I stumbled on this thread. I've since skied this "trail" and it's quite frankly a joke. Anyone that skis Sundown's bumps, think about half of the bumps on Exhibition and similarly pitched. Their expert bump trail (Cutter) kinda sucks too. Totally shaded so the only thing that forms is broad sweeping push piles.

It really is a shame. I used to love to ski Jiminy Peak but they have several trails that really ski the same (Jericho, Whitetail, Whirlaway). If they set up some seeded bumps on half of one of those, it would be great. And yes, I said seeded bumps as good natural bumps just won't form on a rock hard snowmaking trail at a SNE resort. I would definitely lap one of those off the 6 pack or Q1. Plus night bumps there would be in play if Whitetail or Whirlaway.

Jiminy is already a huge success story so I doubt they would alter their formula in any way, but there really is an opportunity there to add some nice challenge. Maybe someday...

I skied Mogul Thing a couple of times the only time I skied there a few years ago. It was alright, but nothing to write home about.

Yeah, it seems to be a very promising mountain for how close it is (good pitch, decent layout, excellent lift capacity, extensive night skiing, nice "village"), but unless you're into high speed carving (and only high speed carving), she seems to be quite the tease.

You've nailed it 100%.

Wrong - only low speed carving is allowed at Jiminy.

:flame:

They let skiers right of Upper Fox bump up a bit last winter.
I made the mistake of not looking at Upper fox after taking a few days off, and launched off of the lip like I always do. The landing hurt alot!

Mogul thing is a joke.
