Can Mount Snow really charge $55 for a few trails and a "full park?" I remember not to long ago paying 30 bucks to ski the same number of trails.

Maybe it being a holiday weekend played a role? Does sound a tad high, though given the quality of the snow they can put down with 251 fan guns, and the fact that they are the only (???) southern VT mountain open as of tomorrow, I guess it is justified.

I also think resorts get you in the Fall when your hankering is the highest; then people disappear in late March and in April when all or most of the mountain is open and lift tickets are cheap as heck.

Easy solution: season pass.

Am I the only one who thinks that Peak != discounts?

That said, if I can get out Friday, I won't be paying too much attention to lift ticket prices...

I think that I can speak for many a Peak Resorts properties season pass holder when I say that we really like the quality of product that we get to slide on day in/day out, and feel comfortable with the price they charge for it

Not true at all. Mt. Snow has so many discounts it was one of the main reasons I decided not to buy a pass this year.

Examples...

Pricechopper
NE Ride and Ski Card
Recreation Connection (Dell Perks)
Working Advantage
Vermont Travel Club
Fan Fare Card (their own program)
BP (last year, don't know about this year yet)
TGR Movie (which will no doubt show up in ebay a day later)
Ski Clubs (specific days and pre-purchase)

Maybe Liftopia this year?

A few years ago they claimed they were going to get rid of most, if not all, of the discounts, but they actually seem to have additional ones each year. I guess good ol' supply and demand forces them to put out so many different deals.

They usually open with edge to edge, top to bottom on the trails they have open. They're not into downloading or the WRD. We'll see how things shake out this weekend. I'm looking forward to it.

Why not? Killington charged $65 for two short runs and walking/downloading... it's what they felt the price should be for their product.

Killington was $49 and shortly after opening for the season they offered half day rates as low as $29. The first weekend they were open top to bottom the price remained at $49 and this week the price went up to $65 as they continued to open up more and more terrain.

We were there yesterday. Conditions were good considering. Trails were edge to edge for the most part and the snow wasn't scratchy. They made snow most of the AM. Hopefully, things aren't "wet" there today. We'll head over this afternoon.

A tale of two different weather patterns today at Mount Snow! The morning, Grand Summit Express on hold for de-icing (had about a 1/4" of ice on the trees infront of my place) Drizzle until about 9:30ish had pure cream cheese consistency hero snow on from the top of Canyon Quad down. A small snow squall rolled through about 10:30, the clouds lifted, the sun came out, the winds picked up a bit, the snow set up, and a few more folks showed up (still essentially walk-on though). Snow holding up well, mass snowmaking effort apparently starting shortly when the temps come down a few more degrees.

And most importantly, birthday turns for me! :)

You're spot on about Mount Snow. However, Attitash, Wildcat and Crotched are are no-shows on most of the aforementioned programs, save for Clubs and Liftopia. Attitash has come right out and said they don't believe they need to discount on single tickets. I chunk Liftopia in a separate category from the pre-commitment cards.

Liftopia is much more of a yield management tool, and is often only of use to people who can jump in at the last minute. I've been an enthusiastic Liftopia customer for three years now. Resorts still seem to be experimenting with it, along with Facebook.

I ended up stacking a cord of wood and doing some stuff around the house today. But I won't miss the  Birthday celebration!

I'm looking forward to seeing those fan guns lit up tonight.
