Last night Channel 7 in Boston ran a profile of the guy who started NELSAP. Pretty good PR for his site........Greg - you gotta make some important new friends to get the free pub.......

NELSAP has been rubbing elbows with some fairly high level, important ski people for a few years now. I'm sure that helped get the publicity. Also, Jeremy from NELSAP is a meteorologist and is on a small station in New York State...I'm sure that doesn't hurt with making connections.

...if rubbing elbows and making connections doesn't work...I'm sure a little money would help

I forgot to mention that Jeremy is also on the board of directors for the New England Ski Museum, which couldn't hurt the publicity of the site.

Yes, that is a wonderful website! That Jeremy seems like quite a guy. Lotta work went into that site :)

Welcome to the boards, Oakley!

I met Jeremy last year on a ski trip. He and all of the contributors to NELSAP are doing a great job.

I contributed quite a bit to that site..... :-?

For a while I couldn't do enough for that site and I couldn't do enough for their buddies at SJ either...I did a lot of research and visited many areas. I spent a lot of time and money checking things out for the two sites...but things have changed...

Your post hints at mystery and intrigue..Do tell@!

No real mystery or intrigue...My sources have run dry on "lost ski areas" and I no longer have the time to devote to doing research for that site as I now have my own sites(3) to take care of. http://teachski.com/index.htm

Although they are currently share space on my teachski.com url, they are 3 uniquely different sites.

I too have met and skied with the NELSAP staff, Jeremy, Betsy and Chris. I had fun skiing with them.

Do check out the teachski site. There is a lot of ski history there as well.

Exploring a lost ski area is fun. I got the chance to explore Snow Valley, Hogback, Prospect (all in VT) and Mt Agamiticus (ME).

If this topic is an endorsement for NELSAP and Jeremy Davis, then I want to chip in.

Josh - I just started this as a note that NELSAP had gotten some publicity on Boston TV. I thought it was cool that Channel 7 took notice, because I have enjoyed reading some of the NELSAP info, and I am waiting for them to list my old home ski area, Alpine Meadows in South Corinth, NY.......got some fireworks you want to share - ?? 8)

No fireworks, but as a guy who loves exploring lost ski areas, I do appreciate and endorse NELSAP and Jeremy Davis.

I don't follow what you are trying to say..Are you saying that you rate higher than me because I am new here?

Good bunch of guys (and gals, sorry Betsy) over at NELSAP/SJ.

I think Joshua B is just teasing. You see, we just finished the February lift ticket giveaway contest for forum members and you needed 5 posts to qualify.

Yes I think I went too far with my joke. Although if Oakley was in a hurry to make his 5 qualifying posts, I would have been more on point. But since he's not I owe him an apology which I did PM him yesterday.

Driving home from my Whiteface, uh....um.....experience....

....yesterday I came through Tupper Lake, and from the North I could see the snow covered slopes of Big Tupper, now defunct. Drove up for a look see. Gate closed with "No Trespassing" sign. Snowcats and lodges and outbuildings just sat there. Kind of sad. Nice little hill, actually, with some great little tree shots and all kinds of potential.

Sounds like it's time for the "Big Tupper" private club. I'll elect myself El Emperore, and all of you guys please wire 25k to my offshore account. Thanks !

About to leave, a huge red tailed hawk started soaring over the slopes. Keeping a watch, and waiting for the return of the skiers, I'm sure....
