When compared to the overall recreational skier, I would put your bump skill more at a 7 or 8. In other words, if I selected 10 random skiers, I would bet in most cases you would be in the top 2 or 3 in terms of bump skill. Remember, bumps just aren't as popular as they once were. Most recreational skiers avoid them.

No way. Select a 100 skiers and 2knees would be in the top 2 or 3. There just aren't that many good bump skiers now. Honestly how many skiers do see that are better than 2knees in a bump during a given day? 5-10? You probably see about 500 or so skiers in a day if there are bumps under the lifts or near them.

Me?
Bumps: 3
Powder: 6
GAA: 9

I get by on being very athletic when my skills are lacking. I'm a pretty bad bump skier, but if you make me all bumps all day long I bet I could pretty easily keep up with any the best bumpers here.

Easy. The guy's head is big enough...

I'm a generic advanced skiier. I can ski most terrain and conditions without breaking down. I carve. I'm centered. I have a quiet upper body. I have no idea how you'd give that a numeric score.

Alpine:

Bumps: 9
Pow: 9
Athleticism (When skiing): 8

Tele:

Bumps: 6.5
Pow: 8
Athleticism: 6

When doing my rankings, I'm comparing me versus the general skiing population. By giving myself a 9 on bumps, I'm saying that I'm better than 90% of the general skiing public at bumps (which I believe to be true). My tele rankings are me versus the general tele population (which is stronger than the general alpine population). Also, I wouldn't consider myself that athletic in normal life (it' not like I run marathons . . . or 5k's . . . or anything for that matter), but people tell me that my skiing is very athletic, hence the relatively high ranking . . .

Most people think distance running is the general definition of an athletic person. In actuality, most top flight distance runners (elite marathoners) are terrible all around athletes since their bodies are so specialized. If you want to rate youself on a scale of athleticism, subscore yourself at how you would do playing golf (hand/eye coordination, body control); running 5K (endurance); throwing a football 40+ yards (strength/coordination), running 100m (speed/reflexes).

I scored myself at 8.5 in athleticism since I am not in good shape right now (A 5K run would hurt pretty bad). I'm okay at golf (I'd be better if I played more often), I can throw a football a long way (as well as a javelin, or a baseball). I'm fairly fast (100m sprint in 11.9 last spring).
Back in the day (college) when I was a decathelete on the university's track team, I would have ranked myself at 9.8 for athleticism. Someday I'll get back into batter shape

I too was a college athlete who is now rather delapidated.....and getting fatter by the minute!

Luckly, my metobolism is still cranking. I still weigh 185 lbs, the same weight I was at graduation eight years ago. Granted, muscle has given way to a bit of fluff :-D
Having a house, wife, and child on the way makes it harder to keep active (they are totally worth it). I try to get out and move around as much as I can.
