Has anybody acually seen a picture of the Avalanche trail?

I'm not saying it doesnt exist and wot-not... Just curious...

So dont come after me - PA Ski and Ride..
You got Greg for that ;)

The Flying Spaghetti Monster created Ski Denton. All Pastafarians believe in the triple fall line goodness!

Seriously though, I don't think anyone's ever been there. We should round up a trip. Can't be more than what, 9 hours from Boston?

a 66 degree slope? I don't think so.

Don't let ski999 see you write that. It's slander!! Slander against all PA ski resorts!!! Damn you snobby New England skiers!!

Sure it's not 66% slope? Not sure what that translates to in degrees (100% is 45 degrees). I think the steep stuff at places like Jackson Hole or Snowbird don't come anywhere close to 66 degrees for any extended distance (I'm not talking about a cliff that requires air time). I think I've read that slopes won't even hold snow when they get past the upper 40s or low 50s.

Definately degrees...

I really just want to see a picture... Seriosly have no other intention except checking out something thats unique...

What I read definitely said degrees. I know because I did a double take thinking just that: "Did that say degrees or per cent?" I was also wondering the same thing: "Would that even hold snow?" And HPD is right too- How could you turn on that? Something's not right with this. That can't be a sustained pitch.

You can turn on a 66 - you'd just be covering a lot of ground.. Unless you jump turned it... But you still be covering a lot of ground..

Out west and in places at Tucks - you drop a few feet in the air sometimes in your turn..

thats why I'd like to see it... Cause if it does indeed exist and it looks like it holds snow well.. I might go check it out..
But I never try anything really steep until I can at least see it... :D

I work with someone who lives part-time in that area and patrols at Denton. It definitely exists and he tells me that its very steep. Not having been there myself, I obviously can't confirm or deny the claimed stats.

I don't need to go to the Moon to verify that it's not made from green cheese and I don't need to go to Denton to verify that it doesn't have a trail with an average gradient of 66 degrees from top to bottom. Some things I know because I live and breath. C'mon. I try to be open minded but that doesn't mean I have holes in my head.

Everyone claims it exists... Who am I to say it does or doesn't...?

I just want to see a picture. I'd think that if it existed - there would be at least one pitcute on the "net"..

I heard it was more like 80...this is my daughter holding on for dear life

Steepest in the East! At 66 degrees, you can't find a more exciting run. Don't even think about it if you don't fit into the criteria warning sign at the top.

Avalanche is currently closed"

I would be curious to see what Extreme is like.

When bored with Avalanche, add a few more trees to liven things up...

I found this from Lewisskiclub.org on a GIS.

Glad they got that thing roped... Other wise - given enough speed - you could probably huck the entire trail...

I like the guy on the left with his ticket attatched to his jacket zipper... Bet that feels good at high speed flapping in his face... But I'm sure his buddy has some bandaides in his stylin' fanny pack... :)

Crap. I can't find the switch on my bindings to set them into expert mode.

It is actually looks steeper than I thought it would be. Though it does look very short.
