Does anyone have any experience with this training device?

I didn't ski at all last year but have a Colorado trip planned this year and have purchased a pass at my local hill. I also have a handful of day trips and a few overnights in the works as well and really want to
1. make sure I'm conditioned for it (just turned 40, not exercising enough).
2. Actually be able to ski powder if I'm lucky enough to have powder day.

Thanks

So, I'm guessing it's a gimmick then. thanks

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a gimmick. Any destabilized-platform exercise can only help improve balance, which is important for skiing. Just don't treat it as a replacement for typical strength & aerobic conditioning which are, IMO, equally if not more important.
