Skiing Montana

I was just out in Bozeman a few weeks ago for a wedding. After looking at the areas that people have skied in another thread. What are people's thoughts on Bridger Bowl and Big Sky? Are they worth the trip? I played Frisbee golf over by Bridger and it look pretty good, it was too smokey to see big sky when we drove over to West Yellowstone. Any info on these two mountains would be appreciated.

Big Sky is on my very short list of places to ski.
I've heard it's HUGE and empty. The back bowl, called liberty bowl, is supposed to be awesome.

Bridger is really cool.. Big Sky is pretty cool to.. Haven't been in a while - i hear they made improvements..

I skibummed in Bozeman in 2002-03 and 2003-04. I had a season pass at Bridger Bowl and a frequency card at Big Sky. Big Sky is a huge area..larger in acerage than Jackson Hole..especially if you include Moonlight basin. Unfortunately snowfall is unpredictable. Bridger Bowl has great chutes and tree skiing but the lifts only cover 2k of vert and they are all slow and fixed grip..I had some of my best powder days ever at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. They are both worth checking out and if you have a week to 10 days..I'd also drive down to Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole..

Big Sky is supposed to be fantastic. Red Lodge could be pretty good, too, on a good snow year.

Moonlight Basin is a totally diferent ski area and Big Sky's vert is a total scam plus if you want to ski past April 15th your going to have to come to New England. :wink: Bridger Bowl is the real deal.
