I've ever seen. I've been living in or visiting Vermont for the past 20 years and I haven't seen anything like it before.

Had you been in Burlington the past five days, you'd swear it was late August. Temps 75-80 and the trees all still completely green.

I work in the hotel biz and I currently have bus groups galore coming through and man are they grumbling about the lack of foliage.

It's just been an odd past six months of weather around here. April was the sunniest and warmest I've ever seen yeilding amazing spring skiing conditions. May was the 2nd coldest ever for Vermont, almost seemed like April and May flip flopped. Then we have the 2nd warmest summer on record according to the papers.

I know New England weather is unpredicatable, but the oddities in the weather patterns up here over the past six months have been off the charts.

I guess the weather's been "weird" but I never like to read too much into a six month period. This cold front that's comin' through Friday means business and the accuweather 15 day forecast puts temps at or below normal for as far out as they forecast after it blows through. The woodstoves will be stoked at my house this weekend - no question. We're about 2 weeks behind schedule as far as foilage goes. This could all change in a wink (and probably will). I'm confident that I will be skiing in the month of November.

4 sure Willy. The mental health consequences of not are too dark to think about. We'll be skiing WF the week before Thanksgiving and somewhere else (Kmart) before that.

Why don't both of you guys join us at K on 11/11? A decent sized group makes the limited terrain choices less boring.

That's a possibility Jim if WF isn't open yet. HPD, what do you hear about WF's target opening date? I heard this weekend that they have some "event" planned for 11/17 (I think that was the date) so it was rumored they'd open before that.

Hey that sounds good. Hunter probably has a shot at being open from Hellgate down by then, you think JimmyG and DMC? I'd rather go there, but would go to Kmart to meet AZers. 8)

Hunter is holding fast to the next Saturday(11/19) to open... BUUUUUT - if the weathers right - they'll open earlier..

I might be down with an 11/11 trip to KMart...

I should have axed Sat., but didn't think of it. I'll post when I hear something.

Hunter has a shot, but I'll still go up to K on the 11th for the AZ gathering. I'll just make it a day trip instead of a weekend trip and hit Hunter the next day.

It's 61.9F on mount Washington, which makes for the warmest temperature on the summit in the month of October since records started being kept in 1935, yikes.

This warm weather is wearing really thin on me.

How much is K-Mart likely to have open 11/11?
Guesses based on historical data are fine, though past perfomrance is not indicative of future results.

Yeah I most likely won't be skiing until Christmas time at best.

Last year they opened with "8" trails and 3 miles. It's really just one top-to-bottom run with a few different variations - usually the summit--->North Ridge (Reason, East Fall, Rhime)-->Snowden (Great Northern, Lower Bunny Buster). They'll run the K1 and the Glades Triple (whoops, North Ridge Triple). I would imagine that we'd probably just do laps off the triple. I'm gonna guess that area is about 600' vertical.

dmc, freeheel, HPD, C-10 - it'd be great if you guys could join us. Continue the K opening discussion here:

So far looks like an ever-increasing sized group. With limited terrain, we could all break up into smaller groups based on ability and still be skiing with each other all day...

Good news... after the front comes through Friday, temps won;t break 60 again for the length of the accuweather 15 day forecast. One more day of this. October wasn't meant for 80s. This weather is good for one thing... swimming. Pool is still in the 60s. All done after next week though.

Willy, I heard today that they are shooting for 11/17, but I didn't hear anything about an event.
