Despite the crappy weather this week, I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and head to Northern Vermont to visit some friends in Stowe. My initial plan was to hit either MRG, Cannon or Burke on the way up with a Fox44 Ski Card voucher, but given the conditions, I didn't want to waste a voucher at those mountains that I truly want to ski with at least decent conditions this season. Hell MRG wasn't even open as an option.
So, I opted for Suicide Six. I had never skied there; one of only a handful of places in Vermont I've never skied. The others would be Bromley, Midlebury Snowbowl, Cochrans and the Lyndon Outing Club.
It was essentially spring skiing, though not full on corn, but decent enough snow. With the little terrain they had to offer, I still had a great day there. Suicide Six is as old and as throwback a Northeastern ski area as it gets. I had heard it has pretty good pitch and it certainly does. My pictures won't do the steepness of the place justice, but their expert trails are pretty legit, even though they're very short. There also appears to be a lot of good trees to ski. I bet on a powder day this place really goes off.

Very cool Fire Place in the Base Lodge
Great little place and the definition of historic ski area, a true step back in time. Also dirt cheap on Mondays. $10 lift tickets. So, a decent little place for Boston folks to hit if they find them heading up to Vermont on a Monday.
