Beautiful day - mostly groomed pp. The bumps were a little icy but doable. Good for fast skiing. January conditions, March sun.

The potential for opening more glades there seems huge....

From my experience at Ragged to hardline's report at MS, there should be no reason not to open the designated woods trails. Is Sunapee fairly conservative in that regard?

I would expect them to be. Growing up in NH, Sunapee was always viewed as the family mountain with easy groomed trails. Now, that may have changed in the 14 year break that I took off from skiing, but I don't think so.

It's changed quite a bit since then. I was gone for about the same length of time. Maybe something to do with no longer being run by the state? They've done a great job thinning out some gladed areas and only get upset if you actually duck a rope. I've seen the glades open with some real sketchy conditions (a good thing if you ask me).

Plus as I've posted before, they do a nice job with the moguls and have some pretty "substantial" airs in the park.

That's good to hear. I never consider going there when I go up to NH, but if they have changed, I'll have to put them on my list to check out.

The folks who manage Okemo, manage Sunapee - thus the share on their season pass.

I thought I read somewhere on this site that the money NH makes from the licensing of Sunapee to the Okemo folks has been used to upgrade Cannon.........

Wind was non-existent before 12:30. After that time it just got worse and worse. I was standing at the top of Upper Blast Off waiting for some slower skiers to clear the first drop so I could get some speed and the wind literally was blowing me backwards away from the trail! :-o

The coverage in the woods was modest and somewhat used up. There are other sections of forest other than what they have open that seemed to catch a lot of snow. Take a look at the attached pics. Maybe it's a little out of bounds but there is some potential there.

Their trail care is resembling Okemo's as the years go by. Sometimes it seems that they over-sanitize some runs....
