DOODS! There is going to be a Thunderbolt race on Mt. Greylock this winter, sponsored by the same team that ran it last year!

If you want to help NOW, there is going to be a work party this Saturday the 28th. PM me. If you can't help now, there will be other opportunities later.

More details are beginning to emerge.

The dates for the 76th Anniversary Race have been set: Feb 12th with a rain date of March 5th. We are doing 100 racers, leaving every minute, for a race that will go about 2 hours total. We are starting at 11 AM this year. It will be the same exact format as last year.

Racer Registration will probably be held late in the year (guessing December).

The Thunderbolt is now officially recognized by the National Ski Patrol as a downhill ski trail, and as such, will now have an official NSP presence on the mountain.

The club is about to purchase a brush cutter to keep the trail nicely maintained. We've had 2 work days on the trail this fall, and the trail is in great shape. Stay tuned for more trail days throughout the fall.

As always, skiers, boarders and spectators are always welcome on the trail throughout the year.

This is really exciting! A true race with ski soul and tradition bound to test the conditioning and ability of any skier!

Time to start training!

Serious training man. The clock starts the moment you begin your uphill ascent until the time you cross the finish line down at the bottom! Just like gramps used to do!

I'll keep you posted, since I joined the TSR club and get all the mailings!

p.s. The trail is only going to get better. The club is about to purchase a brush cutter to keep the trail nicely maintained.

Is the trail open for access year round?

Is the trail open for access year round?
Yep. It's on state land and the agreement with DCR is that it's OK for TSR to love it, but it's still open for all. I've hiked it in the summer.

The day before the race, some dingbats post-holed their way up the center of it. Since it's a-la natural, volunteers had to do their best to fill it in day of the race. :(

Cool. Here is hoping for better conditions this season than last. I will keep this in mind as the date approaches.
