And I hear from relatives in VT that snow is coming again (Mad River area) - so there is still hope! The warm weather will pass!!!

Just curious...will any places be making snow at this point in the season? Would they need to if they made enough earlier on?

Some places fired up their guns to resurface high traffic areas..
But it's the last ditch effort...

I think the majority of the snow making is over. At the local hill that I work at they either laid off all of the snow making crew except for two or gave them liftie jobs...

SugarLoaf got snow this morning. Yahoo ...as I spent the day there yesterday and it rocked. I rocked! God what a gorgeous day. I am just east of the loaf and we had snow this morning until 9ish. Then a very light mist for another hour. Snow was very heavy to shovel. I plan on going back over tomorrow. I need ski buddies. I loved skiing and all, but would much rather a buddy when I am doing crazy stuff. Well...not too crazy. I did 3 runs down Gondi Line yesterday. Had the trail to myself every time. It was awesome/great/tremendous just good clean fun.

Okay...who is planning a trip to the Loaf and would like a newbie local to ski with? Cmon, I need some company! I will ski at any level! I think the snowfields were open yesterday!!!!!

i cant believe it i just looked at wildcats snow report and they got 12-14 inches of snow last night, thats pretty awsome. But it looks like it is going to rain tomorrow so that kinda stinks, but atleast they will have a good base.

I also skied at Sugarloaf yesterday morning before we left for home. The snowfields were not opened that I could see except for Powder Keg and White Nitro. Nitro was in awfull shape and each turn sent an avalanche of mini ice cookies sliding down the trail :o

Hayburner, Gauge and Sluice were really nice and the bumps on Bubblecuffer beat the crap out of my legs. The mountain is awesome on weekdays, and you can rack up the vertical really quickly. I have to agree that the weather yesterday was nice if a little windy at the summit.

on sugarloafs website though it says they are going to fire snow making back up once it gets cooler, but i think that is for just a short amount of time though, once february vacation is over though i wouldnt think anywhere would make snow, besides kilington because they might make it on superstar because they try to keep it open until june.

FYI to the original poster - the day before/of r*** is typically better then the day right after. The first has soft and spring like conditions and the day after is frozen, windy and unpleasant. Not the best call to go thurs rather than wed. Unless you prefer to ski on a rapid freeze.

Seeing this thread, that might well be your preference.

Any opinions on how many days after would be good? If the day after isn't good, then how long should one wait?

I'll be heading out on President's Day regardless, but it would be good to know if that's enough time for things to recover.

All depends on weather. If there is sig snow, it doesn't take long. It also depends on the terrain one hopes to ski. Freeze/thaws hurt natural and mogul trails much more than blue groomers that have a man-made base.

On a positive note, looks like Burlington VT has already switched over to snow.

no rain ..little snow...temps going down snow making going up....screw work ...must play...going skiing thurs/sat/sun/mon/wed
