Weekend Plans?

I'm in the midst of a masonry project in the front of the house - retaining walls, steps, sidewalk. I hope to be able to make some progress despite the rain.

Going to home and garden show tomorrow. That will probably cost me. Going to a car show on sunday. That will probably cost me money as well. Will probably motivate me to get working on my 57 F100 pickup!

Going to see Derek Trucks Band tonight, hope to take kids to drive-in to see new Shrek tomorrow night. As much Mets as possible in between.

Sounds like a big job...One good thing about the rain is that it makes the digging a bit easier.

The footings for the walls are already poured. This weekend was supposed to be laying block. We'll see...

Been working on sanding/repainting my front step iron railings, but the NCP will make that a bit difficult...

This will be a good weekend to do some organizing/purging inside the house. Tedious but necessary. Anything beats a trip to the mall, though.

Greg, you'll have to provide some pictures when the wall is done -- I'd like to see how the veneer stone you mentioned before works out.

Oh yeah. Will do. I'm taking progress photos as we go along...

well, tomorrow is big game 5 for the eastern conference in hockey. I think I might be the only person in Manchester, NH that actually cares about hockey (well, the NHL). Also have some family coming into town from Buffalo. This is actually beyond me, I was ready to go see them in buffalo! (To watch said hockey game) but they already had plans to come up...oh well

HS lacrosse practice on Saturday. I played my HS ball in NY so this CT thing is a bit weird to me. All you need to qualify for the CT State Tourney is a .400 record. Our win last night brought us to 7-9 and a birth in the tourney.

Sunday is when this old man gets out and plays some lax. Coaching these kids makes me more eager to get out and play myself.

Grassi that sounds awesome. I need to get back into athletics. I am itching to do such a thing, just started up my masters in Sports Mngt so we will see where things go from there.

My HS had T shirts made up for our alumni game last year. The slogan on the back said:

"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."

Besides shivering in this nice warm late May weather (43F and rain) I am finishing up with replacing the ersatz holtz fireplace mantle the builder left us with an oak surround. After that my wife would like me to get started with painting the inside of the house.

A big, big burn. Brush, slabwood, winter blow-downs/rotton trees we've cut, some construction scraps. Good weekend for that.

Probably going to yard sales in the AM to scour for NELSAP stuff. Laundry. Hang out with 2 year old nephew. Catch up on episodes of House that we've taped. Put winter clothes away and take out summer ones. Probably go out to eat too.

Going to Manhattan Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning. My wife's best friend is turning 30. She's a director/actress, and we're going to take in a play she is directing down in the Village. After that, we're heading to her BDay party in Midtown, then Clubbing (Clubbing???!!!??? I don't think I did that even when I was in my 20's) until the Metro North starts running again.

Kid's soccer game on Sunday. That should be inneresting.....

Warren is watching his first Warren Miller film on cable while I paint our living room. He is thrilled that they are skiing at Keystone and that he can relate to where that is having skied there this year.

I need to do the same at some point...
