What camera do you take skiing with you

Not sure if this should be in gear or not, so I apologize in advance. I have seen some really nice pics of ski runs, people skiing, taken by (I'm assuming) folks here on the board. I have a semi-nice digital camera I wouldn't take because if I fell on it...
So I was thinking about getting one of those disposable digital cameras, I'd love to take some shots of the hill, but I really don't want to bust up my camera.

Canon Powershot A700. I love it so far. Small, lightweight, 6X optical, 6MB, 2 AA batteries, very good video mode. Here are the only skiing pics I've taken with it so far:

I used to take my old Sony Cybershot along all the time and never had a problem dropping it, falling on it, etc. Here's another good thread about skiing and recreational photography:

It's my only camera and it's my "new" camera (it's already got some dents and scratches)... I broke my last one (Nikon Coolpix 4500) jetskiing (no, not water... it was moshing with my cell phone inside a dry box inside the cargo compartment and it lost) so I got this one.
I'll take good care of it... well, pretty good care

i just upgraded to a canon powershot a630 from a very small and slim olympus stylus 600. screw size, quality is where it is at. don't worry about breaking your cam while skiing, i have never broke a cam while skiing and i have been doing it with a non disposable for almost 7 years now. saved SO much money by going to a real camera instead of a disposable. just take care of it when you are not skiing, that is when you are most likely to break a cam, forgetting it is in your jacket when you toss it...

Just bought a HP Photosmart R967 10 megapixel job,was only $300 and I love it. The old POS was a 1MP Kodak that everyone and a while would ruin just for the fun of it (and to piss me off)

Olympus Stylus 410. It's fairly small and takes decent pictures and video. What I like about it is that it's weather proof, so I don't have to worry about moisture ruining it.

I use an Olympus Camedia Zoom C-5000. Actually would be nice if it got messed up skiing, give me an excuse to buy a better one. I've had this one for about 3 years now, and never worried about smashing it up or anything. The only time I have gotten worried is when it accidentally got wet a few time, but always made it.

Good reminder. Mine is not weather proof (that really means that there are rubber gaskets in the camera's construction) and I wish I had thought about that since it kind of crapped out on me once when it got a little moist - it eventually worked again... but still, that'd be good to have, especially since with it sitting inside a sweaty jacket it might have a chance to get wet.

I have a Cannon A620 now and used to have a olympus 410 which I hated with all my heart. I love the A620 though.

Olympus Camedia D-40..Takes great pic as well as vid with sound. I also like the rapid fire option...makes it easier to get a goo pic.

Used to bring my old and trusty Canon S100 Digital ELPH.

Upgraded last year to a Panasonic Lumix FX9.

Theses subcompacts are easy to carry in a pocket and the tech gets better and better...

I have a sony DSC T7. It is extremely small, about the size of a deck of cards, and durable (even the screen), and still can take 5.1 MP pictures. Has a rapid fire option as well.

Once I'm up to speed on keeping my feet below me, razz I carry my Minolta D7I. Nice camera, tho a little slow on autofocusing.

The nice thing about it is I can put it in full manual and do special shots. The bad thing is it is a little large.

Until then, and times when I don't want to carry the big camera, I use a Kodak C340. Most of the pix are ok, but sometimes it just does odd things and selects a very bad light setting, which leads to a worthless pic.

I used to use an Olympus CZ3000. It is the best I've had on full auto, but I stopped carrying it most of the time due to the 3MP size. (Hey! It was almost the top, at the time! :roll: )

I almost always have a camera. mostly from last season.

The images above definately been photoshopped.....big increase in color saturation. I don't have Photoshop but bumping up the saturation is easy to do. For example, first pic is original, second pic has the color saturation bumped up. BTW the Oly E-500 is a low/mid priced DSLR and I have heard lots of great reviews about the camera.

my cannon powershot A520 takes suprisingly good pics for the price, the auto mode works really well. It also takes video with sound. Mayabe ill post some pics from SR tomorrow.
