My wife and friends and I will be skiing Waterville Valley this weekend. According to the weather channel it should be a balmy 10f or 14f. A huge change from the minus temps I have become so accustom to.

Sunday looks like bright sun and mid 20's at Jiminy Peak. That's where I'll be! 8)

What a great day to ski yesterday! I hope many of you got out. I posted a report in the TR forum.

Okay, so where is everyone skiing this weekend? I can't decide where I want to go to celebrate one year of wedded bliss! Sugarloaf, Jay, Whiteface. Decisions decisions. We got hitched on Sterling Mountain at Smugglers last year. That was a fun place to ski, but very expensive!

Sugarloaf and the Bag and Brew it will be! I cannot resist their Potato Ale and that Bag Burger. Yummy. Marshall Tucker is playing there this weekend. I am a little worried about the weather though. Ice in Mass tomorrow and snow in Maine? :D

I think I am passing this weekend. I do not like to drive on ice! I thought having Anti lock brakes would make my vehicle a great winter vehicle, WRONG!

I am not promoting an item, but for all of us winter sports enthusiasts, check this link out. I want to get snow chains, but it is not recommended for my car so I am looking to get a set of these. They are a little pricey, but worth it for certain situations. I am looking at the Sport model.

I'm thinking of heading to Windham on Sunday. Was supposed to go Sat but have to shift a day. Anyone know of any discounts available for that day? I didn't see any on their site but figured I'd ask.
Thanks!

I may try to get out Sunday AM to Butternut.

Skiing this weekend

I am suppose to ski Windham this Saturday with some co-workers. However, plans may change if the wintry mix causes havoc on the slopes. I don't like skiing strictly on groomed runs and that is what I would be forced to ski if ice falls instead of snow. :(

Husband just called and said weather will be too bad for a trip up to Maine, going to Cannon on Sunday. Wish it were 2 for 1, but oh well. Have fun everyone and stay safe!

I'll be at Sugarbush on Saturday. And then this Sunday I think I'm going to take a trip over to Sugarbush. Although, I might change my mind and just go to Sugarbush instead. I can't decide. Sugarbush or Sugarbush... tough choices.

That was funny! LOL! Have fun there. I have friends who are also skiing the Sugarbush. I went there once a few years ago. Had a great time. Don't know why we haven't gone back. Have to plan a trip. Have fun and stay safe.

Depends on how bad the roads are this evening. The final destination is Stratton as usual, but I'm worried that the rain/snow changeover zone on Rt 2 will be bad.

Welcome to the boards, CP!

Thanks. I saw your post over on Epic and decided to join here. Seems like a better way to communicate with locals. I've found the same is true regarding a few other boards I'm a member of. Pertinent info is passed along more quickly, as opposed to a national board.

Exactly. I don't have any plans in the near future to expand beyond the Northeast. I still would like to bring in more Northeast coverage, namely NJ, PA, etc... and even Quebec and W. VA, but I'm a rightcoaster and this site will stay regional for the foreseeable future. I have yet to find another site out there that is truly Northeast skiing-specific. Snowjournal is somewhat with its link to NELSAP, but I think Chris really is aiming at national coverage. FTO leans towards the NE with the reports, but covers other areas. I could probably increase this site's traffic 10 fold if I expanded coverage to the West, but I think the site will then lose focus. After all, most of our homes and experiences are here. I think we fill a unique niche and this is a comfortable setting for discussing our "home" mountains. Glad you found us. Spread the word to other Northeast skiers! 8)

We went to Sugarbush a couple years ago. Most memorable trip we ever had. Fresh snow coming down. It was Friday, not busy, and 100% open. They had all super quads going and no lines. Alot of time going down, no time in line and a quick lift to the top. Epic, just epic.

This weekend, we'll grab, hopefully four of our kids and go to Sunday River. 119 trails open and fairly good conditions, and hopefully a fresh blanket of snow!!!
Another happy American Skiing Company customer! 8)

CP, welcome!

Route 2 is a skating rink tonight from what I hear. I had the scanner on earlier but just turned it off. There were loads of accident reports in the Fitchburg to Athol area. It's getting a little colder here which will probably just make things worse.

I wish I had better news to tell you, but from what I hear route 2 will not be in that good of shape.
