Sunday River Lifts

Well, NEP pricing is out. Pricing seems level at least thru April 2nd. And this year, Golds have the option to add iKon Base for $299 or full iKon for $799. That wipes out the old have to do the Silver NEP and full iKon on the side as that option costs $200 more than the Gold NEP + full iKon add on. The only hitch is if you wanted to use the iKon now this season, you cannot with the add on.

and none too soon, we are at SR for u14 easterns next week hopefully followed up by can ams at SL. youth silver includes spring access and is cheaper than race tickets for the two events.

i will be buying a bronze for the sixth year in a row, have no complaints with how loon was run this year, SR was good enough early season, single day so far at SL was excellent.

not cheap when paired with a cannon pass at $1278 but the season length, variety and reliable operations work for us

What is your point?

Boston day trippers go to Loon, not Sunday River. Midweek April business is largely local day trip folks. Where is the largest pool of day trippers for Sunday River from? York and Cumberland counties.

I bet dollars to donuts that SR sees more midweek business in April than Sugarloaf does and it's largely due to day trip skiers from those two counties. SR certainly saw more of my business than SL when Portland was home for me.
Freeport ME resident here and you are spot on. Boyne will have less business from me this Spring with SR closed midweek. I do the trek to SL for one spring day annually and look forward to it, but it will likely still just be one Spring day this year. I would visit SR at least weekly, if they were open daily through Patriots Day like usual. I get SL being last to close (in Maine) due to snow preservation, but dont understand the drastic cuts to operations there this Spring vs. their other resorts.

Great skiing today, even some woods coming back into play. Shockwave was awesome today, lapped that before and after lunch. Jordan was super nice at the Bell, Top Gun close second. A few local lines skiing well and rope dropped on Blind Ambition this afternoon. Definitely low tide and need to pick your lines, but nice to have that back.

Well, this is a start but the brand damage has already been done. Going to take a full send effort next year to rebuild skier/rider trust.

Afternoon Report

Last Updated: 4/8/2026 | 3:17PM

Good afternoon, Sunday River.

We have some good news, and we want to be straight with you about it.

When we announced reduced spring operations, we missed the mark. Our plan to wind down the season didn't reflect who we are or what our guests and passholders deserve. We heard you, and we're doing something about it.

Sunday River will be open this Friday, April 10, and next Friday, April 17, for expanded spring access. The Jordan 8 spins 9AM to 4PM on Friday, and 8AM to 4PM Saturday and Sunday. Rogue Angel, Excalibur, and Lollapalooza are confirmed, with more possible depending on conditions. The Jordan Hotel is ski-in/ski-out for anyone looking to make a weekend of it.

For food and beverage options, The Iglu will be open Saturday and Sunday during normal hours but closed on Friday. Sliders will be serving as usual Saturday and Sunday, plus a Friday barbecue on the deck from 11 AM to 1 PM.

We'll be back with another update tomorrow once we have more details. We can't wait to get back on the lift with you. Thank you for being part of this community, and for holding us accountable.

We'll see you out there.

I think it’s pretty damn good on em to acknowledge the negative feedback and at least make an attempt. I’m sure they’re calling around to see if they can get enough people back on the mountain to get Barker going and Spruce.

The way Sunday River and to some extent Loon were run this year is a big part of why I dropped Ikon for next season. I was at SR last weekend and South Ridge was closed Friday (and that whole week) and then on Saturday they only ran the South Ridge Express and not the Chondola. White Cap had no lifts spinning and Aurora also closed even though all had lots of snow. That on top of the rise in price and cuts/changes to the renewal benefits are the other reason I dropped Ikon. My original plan was to drop from full to base Ikon and add Indy. Decided I'm going to do Indy plus Epic Local for next season. Hopefully I am wrong but I will probably have plenty of complaints about Epic next year that will force me back to Ikon. After two seasons of skiing almost exclusively Ikon mountains it will at least be good to switch it up and get to Stowe, Snow and likely Park City next winter as well as the Indy mountains I haven't hit in a few years or more.

What No Wildcat or Attitash ??
You don't know what you're missing.....

Attitash is one of the handful of larger NE mountains that I have never been to. Sounds like it was run pretty well this year so hopefully that continues and I can check it off the list. Wildcat was my favorite mountain just behind Cannon growing up. Hopefully I can get a powder day there to relive some of that former glory. I have only been once since Vail took over it was awful in every way.

Loon seems pretty good today. Granted West Basin and Kanc8 is now closed for the season, but still 3 lifts and pretty good turnout today. I'll give them credit for keeping Camp III open. The patio is pretty1000006425.jpg mint today.

I've seen the letter from Brian. Heon to employees and that was not included in it.

I learned something through working with the industry leaders in resort Master Plans when I was in the ski industry and that is you try your best to put your skiers where they want to be, not where you want them to be. SR the last few years has not really followed this philosophy.

What surprises me about this is Brian Heon was very much in tune with what the skiers wanted operationally at Wildcat. I wonder how much the operational changes at SR are his choices or the higher ups.

I just can't get behind Jordan as the base of operations for late season. It's a not insignificant further drive to get to and most of the bed base and real estate ownership is on the Barker side. No lodge over there. Arguably better terrain variety on the Barker side.

And remember, this isn't just late season. It's early season too after they get Jordan open. Locke pivots to race camps at that point.

And as we saw this early season. It took way too much effort to make the connection between Locke and Jordan instead of blowing actual terrain.

I think Boyne needs to send out two surveys.

1. Which mountain should have the 7 day a week operation in April, SR or SL.

2. Should April operations focus on Barker / Spruce or Jordan / OZ.
I will comment on number 2 and I agree, though they already have the results. SR has been my home Mountain for 30 plus years and I haven't talked to or heard from a single person that likes spring at Jordan over Barker. Not one! They literally have to know this. I fail to understand their stubbornness when the Jordan plan is so wildly unpopular. I understood the year they built J8, as they likely wanted to showcase it, but they now have essentially the same lift on Barker.

It's the hotel. They have poured a ton of $$$ into that property. I personally believe some of the impetus to open and close over there is driven from Michigan because of the hotel.
On a second point, it is a shorter drive from the residences on Merrill Hill to Jordan. Before you think that isn't a worthwhile point, remember MH Triple spun later than both Aurora and White Heat.
