Well....it's going fast. Winter 08-09 is wrapping up quick and it's getting less and less likely that we will see any big dumps fo snow....boat is out, bike is in the shop...Moto's not starting...I'm gonna go ahead and call it over for me. This winter was great! Pow in October again. Skiied Whiteface for the first time. (sick and big) Snow quality was fantastic for 2 long steches thru January and February...and many coversations were had while reskinng about how spoiled we were in terms of snow quality. When it was good, it was freaking good, and a few days that were down right unforgettable. Lots of light gear stuff in the Norwick ski area out back...and skiied the reclaimed line I hacked out between the lift line and the jump hill. Laughed out loud many time while skiing trees in perfect snow on bluebird days. As far as number of days on the "Big" gear, I would say 30? But at least twice as many days skiing out back on bc skis for an hour or two here and there. I worked alot more this winter then I have since running my own place. It was a good season for that. The snow was crap during X-Mas and Presidents week so that made it easy.....
Runs I'll remember from this year. First run at Whiteface. Clifftrail in theigh deep blower in November. Chin Clip the next day, dawn patrol. Both runs down Steve's line on Mansfield. The Brook with the Zimmers with the deepest lightest snow I've ever skiied. Truely bottomless with unlimited choking faceshots for many cointinuous moments. My last day for the last 2 years was at the same natural Mtn.
It was deep powder....

I'm ready for a green landscape now.

The biggest lines are yet to be had over in the ADK's. Just getting to the point where they are safe. Big vert after big climbs.

Yeah, my ski season is just about done as well. I had wanted to get out a few more times, but now I think I'll be lucky to get another day in.

Time to switch back to a more contact sport.

Even for a New Jerseyitte///Camelback is open two more weeks and Belleayre and Hunter at least that long..

I probably have another 15-20 days

I'm thinking I'll get one or two more days in. Hopefully Friday at Mountain Creek and a week from Saturday at Mt. Peter with my son. With the new baby I don't think I'll get in a day trip in April,

I need that one last day ripping around on slush in shorts getting that first sunburn that makes a good base for the summer (don't let a dermatologist hear that.)

Some of the best days are still yet to come.

+1

I basically suffer through the winter to get to spring skiing. The last 5 days have been fantastic. Bluebird sun. BBQs. Up on the hill harvesting the corn.

I'm really hoping for some more typical late-March and early-April powder days before we get to full time beach weather through the end of April. KMart has been hit pretty hard by thaws and warm weather this year. A lot of east-facing natural snow terrain that is usually great in March like Fiddle and Royal Flush is done for the year without more snow.

I had some really good days this year but due to family obligations and weather I'm down quite a bit on the number of days on skis including a couple of really good powder weekends. My 2 best memories of this season wre spent skiing with my kids. The first was at Sugarbush and following my 11 year old anywhere and everywhere. The second was this past weekend at Magic and skiing Twilight Zone with my 7 year old for the first time.i 'm still hoping for a few more days but when it ends it I will go straight from the mountain to the links and then work on getting the boat ready for the end of April.
